One of the Women Who Helped Launch Designer Dutch RicLamar’s Dream
During Women’s History Month, we honor the late Linda Bell—whose belief in a young designer helped shape a journey that now reaches the national stage on The Tamron Hall Show.
A Legacy of Belief and Opportunity
Women’s History Month celebrates the women whose influence reaches far beyond their own accomplishments—women who open doors, nurture talent, and help others realize their dreams.
One of those women was Linda Bell, the late founding proprietor of Linda’s Especially for You in Olde Towne Portsmouth, Va. Known for her skill as a seamstress and boutique owner, Bell was equally admired for her generosity and encouragement toward emerging talent in the community.
Her support helped change the course of a young designer’s life.
When Faith Brought the Right Mentor
In 2010, designer Dutch RicLamar was still working toward building his career in fashion. Determined to pursue his passion, he prayed for guidance and support.
What happened next became a defining moment in his journey.
“I prayed and I asked the Lord to put someone in my path that can help me – and there she was.”
That “someone” was Linda Bell.
Affectionately known by many as “Ms. Linda,” she saw potential in RicLamar and welcomed him into her creative circle. Through her boutique and the community she cultivated, she helped give him opportunities to develop and showcase his work.
RicLamar once reflected that Ms. Linda helped him transform into the designer he had always imagined he could be.
It was mentorship built on faith, generosity, and belief in possibility.
From Hampton Roads to the National Spotlight

Sixteen years later, that dream continues to unfold in extraordinary ways.
On Friday, March 13, 2026, designer Dutch RicLamar was featured on The Tamron Hall Show during the finale of the program’s “Up & Coming Designer Series.” The nationally syndicated show highlighted emerging fashion talent, and RicLamar’s work took center stage.
Even more exciting, he designed a custom gown worn by host Tamron Hall, introducing his designs to audiences across the country.
RicLamar’s style is known for luxury fashion with an edge—bold silhouettes, dramatic details, and designs that reflect both confidence and creativity.
For Hampton Roads, the moment represents not just personal achievement, but another proud example of local talent reaching a national platform.
The Power of Women Who Lift Others
While the spotlight shined on RicLamar, the moment also reflected the influence of one of the women who helped him take his first steps.
Linda Bell believed in people.
She believed that when someone has a gift, it deserved encouragement and opportunity. Her boutique became a place where creativity flourished and where dreams were taken seriously.
During Women’s History Month, her story reminds us that history is often shaped by women who invest in others' success.
A Moment She Would Have Celebrated
Seeing Dutch RicLamar’s designs on national television would have been a moment of immense pride for Ms. Linda.
Her encouragement helped nurture the early stages of a journey that continues to grow today.
And in many ways, every new milestone—including this national spotlight—is part of the legacy she helped create.
